If you have a long time employee that has Parkinson's disease and he has recently told you, but his capabilities have been getting less and less for awhile now, and there are not many more accomodations to be made, how do you handle talking to him about the fact that he may no longer be able to perform the essential functions of his job?

The primary question is this: How do you want to handle it? This is a long-time employee, and as such, probably has a better-than-average record of accomplishments. You are most likely safe to show as much - or little - compassion as your organization can stand.
