Good thing my husband does not know that book exists or he would be buying it for me. I jump in first, follow instructions only if all other revenues have failed.

I love it! I would buy cases of the book if I actually thought our employees would read it, but two-thirds of them would call me and say "now what was it you wanted me to do with this book?"

Exactly! That's why I asked about a dvd format. If they won't read directions, it's for sure they won't read about learning directions.

P.S. The dvd format must be humorous and/or exciting to keep their interest.

The DVD has colorful sock puppet figures that talk in slow, soothing tones. So I've heard.

Actually for years my brother would buy me the "for dummies" books. From home maintenance to car repair. I think he was trying to make a point. I didnt read any of them so I guess I got the last laugh. Right?

I have only had one...and it was the dvd version. Golf for Dummies. I know you got a kick out of that one.

I bought the first Dummies book I'd ever bought, "Puppies for Dummies" when we got our new dog about a month ago. We have read a little bit of the book but so far its primary purpose seems to be as a chew toy for the puppy....she loves to chew on books and for some reason she seems to think that one is particularly tasty and tries to steal it every chance she gets. Maybe she's trying to eat it before we can read it because she's afraid if we read it, we'll learn the secrets to making a dog behave.

That's pretty funny, cnghr. One of my favorite childrens books is called "Chewy Louie" about an adorable puppy with a huge appetite. Its really cute and the illustrations are hilarious.

Also, here is another gift idea that isn't HR related but is very seasonal.

It may just be in the eye of the beholder. I have a clear shower curtain with Santa printed on it taking a shower. There are lots of fun bubbles and little elves holding up a towel and his robe. There didn't seem to me to be a hint of anything important even close to showing, so I thought it was adorable. My mom-in-law thought it was offensive. I didn't feel too bad though, she refused to watch Cosby in the 80's because often the Huxtables had conversations in the bedroom.

I (just barely) remember when a married couple on TV had to have single beds and one foot touching the floor at all times. (Example: I Love Lucy)

Oh my gosh! I remember that. I'm aging myself now. But to not watch the Huxtables? Funny. Seems pretty tame and generic compared to what's on TV now.

Mary Kay and Johnny, a 15 minute live sit-com that appeared for 3 years beginning in 1947. None of the shows were recorded. Wikipedia has the Flinstones (1960-1966), but Snopes.com says it was Mary Kay and Johnny. I love the internet.

Aparrently some of it was filmed and saved, though not commerically available. It was based on the newlyweds (MK & J Stearns) lives, and ended in 1950. It was the first television sit-com. I didn't recognize any of the names, but if the tapes became available, who knows?

The Santa toilet is probably the first gift I have ever found that people who love and hate Santa Clause can both enjoy.

She's smiling because she has the remote. And she has the remote because her husband doesn't have a Snuggie. [B]He's[/B] forced to use an old-fashioned blanket, which [B]doesn't [/B]allow you to use your hands and keep them warm at the same time.

And yes, if [B]you[/B] were sitting there with your spiffy Snuggie while your poor husband wallowed under a Paleozoic-Era blanket, unable to perform his duties as a man because he couldn't hold the remote, I'm sure [B]you'd[/B] have that Queen-of-the-Universe smirk on your face too!

Or maybe, judging by the cleanliness of the kitchen and her surroundings, and the huge smile on her face she does not have a husband.

Paul! You finally found one in pink! How sweet of you to look for me. Of course, I know you are just doing so because you hope I will wear it to Walmart and then end up on your favorite website peopleofwalmart.com.

It does look much better in pink. However, I'm afraid I'll still have to pass as it doesn't go with my furniture (which is NOT in pink.)
