That’s right, we’re looking for the best HR Hero costumes and we think you just may have one.
Halloween is fast approaching and the folks here at M. Lee Smith Publishers (a.k.a. HRHero.com) are sponsoring a costume contest to find the best dressed HR Hero. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place costumes. The contest is limited to HRHero.com Forumites.
The Contest
Submit a photo of yourself (or your dog, cat, mongoose, or whatever) dressed in your vision of what a true HR Hero should look like -- and will be wearing this Halloween. (Nothing too risqué please. After all, we are HR folks.)
The Prizes
First Place: 10 Courses from Training Today - a $360 value. (To learn more about this prize, go to Training Today)
Second Place: An Employment Practices Self-Audit Workbook - a $197 value. (For a detailed description of this valuable tool, go to HRHero.com)
Third Place: An HR Hero T-shirt - priceless. (It’s blue with the HR hero logo on the front and nada on the back. It’s a size XL and has a few wrinkles, but otherwise it looks great. . . . Ok, we’ll try to get it ironed by the end of the contest. Szeesh!)
How to Enter
Post your photo (jpeg, GIF, or tiff image) in a response to this thread. The photo must include a small sign with “I’m an HR Hero!” on it. All photos must be posted on the forum no later than Wednesday, October 28.
How the Contest Works
Step One: On Thursday, October 29, via a poll, Forumites will have an opportunity to narrow the field to the top five costumes. (Unless, of course, fewer than 5 Forumites submit photos. In which case, we’ll skip this step and jump to step two.)
Step two: On Friday, October 30, we’ll post a poll, listing the photos (or the top five photos if we didn’t have to skip step one) so Forumites can vote for their favorite with the top three winning the prizes listed above.
The Fine Print
By submitting a photo, you affirm that image belongs to you and that it is not the property of another, nor is it copyrighted material. Further, you agree to allow M. Lee Smith and HRHero.com to use the photo for its promotional advertising and/or marketing.
Ok, that's it. The prizes are great. The rules are clear. (At least I think they are, but if something doesn't make sense, just let me know.)

We're looking forward to seeing some great HR Hero costumes so don't disappoint us.
Have fun!

I have to fess up and say it wasn't my idea. But, I did have fun working with our team here putting the details together.
By the way, I can't wait to see the photo of you in your costume.
Sharon
Not yet. But, you never know. We could see a plethora of of photos posted tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.
By the way, Frank, where is your photo?
Sharon
How about it, Frank?
Unrealistic dreams I'm working on today:
Keeping an employee's under-withholding from being an issue April 15.
Getting a department manager to understand why I'm so interested in reports that show 60% downtime with her employees.
Getting out of here early enough tonight to avoid the 2-hour trip home that has become the norm this month.
Alas and alack. My heart is pierced with disappointment.
My faith in HR Heroes everywhere has been so diminished. :-/
Sharon
(Psst. Tony, does this mean I get the great prizes?) O:)
He would have none of it.
Can you keep the contest open until Friday? I think thats when people may actually dress up.
Sharon
Nice try, but you don't get a prize. 8-|

It really makes all the difference, to me!
