Looks like you were on your own. If it makes you feel better, I put in a full day Saturday. With no one else here it was intense work time.

Saturday night my daughter called to tell me my grand-daughter might be in labor. We were at the hospital by 11:30 and my new great-grandson was born after 8 the next morning. Both baby and mom are doing well, but I must admit Sunday is just a blur.

So though I didn't come in to work on Labor Day, I did work over the weekend. I hope it helps to know that you were not the only one even if it wasn't the same day.

Im not complaining. Much. I get all my holidays back in December when I have two weeks off.

Yesterday was actually a fun work day as we celebrated the end of our summer season, had a burger party on our beachfront lawn, and bid adieu to 90 summer staff.

Thank you Beth. My grand-daughter did fine, but I was a bit worried because her momma was in the room with her almost the entire time and SHE is 11 weeks pregnant herself. The good part was that I could give her some relief and replace her occassionally. I would much rather be there and know what is going on than be in the waiting room.

I've said it before, Nae, and I'll say it again: you are only a couple of days older than me, therefore you are WAY too young to be a great-grandma! (I've been kind of freaked out lately because my oldest grandchild just turned 12.)

Anyhow, congrats on the new arrival and it's great that you were able to be there for the birth!

Thank you! Our first 5 grandkids are between the ages of 15 and 19. Then we had a break and the oldest of the next set is 6. Of course, we cheated a bit. My hubby is 9 years older and 2 of our daughters (and 3 of the grandkids) are from his first marriage. I had my oldest at 18. We breed young.

Yeah, I had my kids when I was 17 and 21 so I understand breeding young. My son who was born when I was 21 waited until he was 21 to reproduce so that helped, anyhow, or I might have much older grandkids than I do.

We cheated a bit on the grandchild thing also...my husband is 7 years younger than me and my oldest grandchild was already on the way when we got married so he became a grandpa by way of being married to a grandma when his own kids were only 7 & 9 years old.
