Termination of Health Coverage

I'm under the impression that pre-tax, health insurance (medical and dental) can not be termed mid-year except during open enrollment or because of a qualified life event. Post-tax, non-cafeteria plan benefits can be termed mid-year for any reason. Is this accurate?

Technically, you can term your health coverage even if it is Section 125, however, you still have to continue with the employee withholdings for the rest of the year. Now, where is that smart-a$$ smiley face?
