Workman's Compensation Unpaid Time

Hello,

I was curious to know how your organization compensates for the time off that an employee has before the workman's compensation pay kicks in. In Michigan, payment does not start until the eighth day the employee is off work. Thank you for your help.

If the comp is running concurrent with FMLA, the ee has to use available sick leave and vacation. If they have none available, they don't get paid until comp starts.

It depends on the applicable union contract. . we pay first 7 days for some and if they get to the waiting period and are reimbursed, we keep the check. Others can use sick and vacation.
