Pumpkin Ooey Gooey

Pumpkin Ooey Gooey
• 1 package of yellow cake mix
• 1 egg
• 1 stick of butter, melted
Topping
• 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
• 3 eggs
• 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin pie filling
• 1 stick of butter, melted
• 1 box (16 oz) powdered sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1 tsp ground nutmeg
Preheat oven to 350. Mix together the cake mix, egg and butter. The batter will be very sticky. Spoon into greased 13x9 cake pan and flatten down with either fingers or spoon. Cream together cream cheese, butter, eggs, sugar and vanilla and pour over the cake mix. Bake for 40-50 minutes, but be careful not to overbake. The top should take on a light golden color and the center should still look very moist.
You can also use yellow cake with the plain cream cheese topping if you don't care for chocolate.

Devil's Food Ooey Gooey (Chess Cake)
• 1 package Devil's Food cake mix
• 1 egg
• 1 stick of butter, melted
Topping
• 1 pack (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
• 1 stick of butter
• 3 eggs
• 1 pack (16 oz) of powdered sugar
• 1 tsp of vanilla extract

Follow the same procedure for the pumpkin ooey gooey cake, and I can't stress how important it is to not overbake. I speak from experience. We tried this with the nutmeg and without the nutmeg, and I prefer it without, but it really is a matter of taste!
