Our Youth Club is having a bake sale. I've been asked for Hawaiian Sweet Bread. Anyone have a good recipe for it? I don't think it has pineapple in it...

I did find a recipe for Hawaiian Sweet Bread. I'll make y'all some when you come by for a visit. It's been quite mild in NH this fall so far.

The thymus gland (known as throat sweetbread) and the pancreas (stomach sweetbread), especially of the calf and lamb (although beef sweetbreads are sometimes eaten), are considered delicacies and are rich in mineral elements and vitamins. The pancreas is generally preferred to the thymus. Sweetbreads are highly perishable and, immediately after removal from refrigeration, should be soaked and parboiled, then creamed, curried, braised, or otherwise prepared for serving.

(also called Portuguese Sweet Bread)
1/4 cup warm water
1/2 cup mashed potato
2 Tbsp sugar
1 package (2 1/2 teaspoons) active dry yeast
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c butter
3 large eggs, beaten
3/4 cup sugar
4- 4 1/2 cups flour
In a large bowl, mix together the warm water, mashed potato, 2 tablespoons sugar, and yeast. Set aside to proof for five minutes. In a small saucepan, heat milk, salt, and butter over low heat until the butter is completely melted. Cool mixture to lukewarm and whisk in eggs. Add milk-egg mixture to the potatoes and yeast. Stir well. Add 3/4 cup sugar and enough of the 4 1/2 cups flour to make a workable dough. Knead for a few minutes, until dough is smooth and elastic.
Place dough in oiled bowl, turn once and cover loosely with plastic wrap and a light, clean dishtowel. Let it rise for an hour, or until doubled in size. Punch down the dough and shape into desired loaves on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled. Bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
