Sundaes

I've had a discussion lately with a friend on the best way to make a sundae (i.e. cherries/whipped cream/nuts)

I think the perfect sundae is 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, peanut butter cup chips, whipped cream and nuts. Hold the artificially flavored cherry.

What do you think? Is this perfect or what?

I must either be a purist or boring as hell. For me the perfect sundae is two scoops vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and crushed walnuts. None of that other foo-foo stuff. x;-)

I remember ordering Sundaes many moons ago. I always insisted on pineapple sauce. I think the only real difference in a good Sundae and a banana split is the Sundae don't have no banana in it. And a Sundae came in an upright cup or thin, tall glass and a split came in a 'laying down' dish. Can't beat that butterscotch syrup either.

Oh, I had forgotten about the butterscotch. I have to be in the mood for it...not a huge fan...but it has its place. I think the way I like butterscotch best is in Lifesavers candies.

But the Butter Rum Flavor is my all time favorite Life Saver. A little old lady in church used to carry a roll and whenever she saw my brothers and I getting fidgety (sp?) she'd get them out.

I like any sundaes/Sundays as long as it is not followed by Mondays... x:D

I too like the two scoops of vanilla and chocolate syrup, whipped cream, topped with chopped peanuts. I hate walnuts and pecans, they taste like dirt to me, plus I don't like nuts cooked in food. But peanuts on top of a sundae is perfect. I like sundaes with strawberry syrup too, but the best is the chocolate. Not a fan of the pineapple or butterscotch. A really good sundae has a small bit of chocolate between the scopps of ice cream so you can have a good mix of the toppings throughout.

My perfect sundae: Two scoops of vanilla ice cream side by side instead of stacked, one with hot fudge and one with cajeta. Both smothered in fresh whipped cream and topped with lots of coarsely chopped, toasted pecans.

To make a sundae "tin roof" you put whole peanuts on top. Any kind of sundae will do. My favorite is hot fudge - yes, lots of hot fudge with a little whipped cream, peanuts, and definitely the maraccino (sp) cherry on top. Oh man. That's for supper!
