This is so good if you like toffee.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. (To keep the pan clean, I usually put the foil up a little around the edges.) I spray the foil vey lightly with Pam. Lay soda crackers (any brand, salted or not salted, doesn't matter) side by side to cover the foil. Make sure all the crackers touch.
In a sauce pan, melt 2 sticks of real butter (no substitutes) and 1 cup sugar until sugar is dissolved. Do not scorch it. Pour butter and sugar mixture over crackers. Bake for about 5 minutes or until mixture becomes bubbly in oven.
Take tray out of the oven, sprinkle one package of chocolate chips, or whatever flavor you prefer, over the crackers. Wait a minute or two for them to melt, then spread all over crackers with back of a spoon. Sprinkle sliced (not slivered) almonds on top. Put tray in freezer for 5-10 minutes. Break toffee into pieces. Can be stored in tins in the freezer.
