Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone! Did you dress up?

I thought about coming as Sarah Palin, but was afraid that would look like I was making a political statement. Instead, I am dressed in my hubby's Marine Corp fatigues. The clothes aren't too bad, but the boots are a killer. x;-)

  • I may dress up tonight when I take the kids to our church fall festival.

I am thinking of putting on my skateboard helmet and pads and add a arm sling and crutches. :)
  • This will be the frist Halloween my family has not particated in Halloween in many years. We all four ususally are in custome with the outside of the house decorated as well as in the front entryway. We have always had between 800 to 1200 kids make the rounds on our street. My boys are both involved in the NaNoWriMO (National Novel Writers Month) and it officially starts at 12:01 on November 1st. and this is taking precidence this year. Participants are challenged to write a novel of at least 50,000 words during the month of Novembe. They have each accomplished this goal for the past two years and want to try again. Guess we will stay in the back part of the house and watch movies tonight.
Where I work is located downtown and the local mercahants host trick-or-treating from 3:00 to 6:00 every year. With beautiful weather, clear skies and in the low 70's they are expecting huge crowds of kids. Kids from 5th grade down are invited and they must be with a parent/adult. They are expecting between 1,200 -1,500 to show up. I can hear the ballons popping now in the office above me now as volunteers are getting them ready to hand out with the candy.
Don't forget that your are putting the trick-or-treaters first when you do a quality inspection of the candy you purchased to hand out this evening.
  • I'm not in costume today but I did wear a Halloween-themed sweatshirt. I feel kind of out of place even wearing what I am because nobody else in my department dressed up at all. Last year quite a few of us did but for some reason nobody was really into it this year.

This evening I'm going to stay home and answer the door for trick or treaters and then my 3 granddaughters are coming over to spend the night after they're done with their trick or treating. I will be going through the girls' treat bags to look for chocolate I can snitch....er, inspect the candy they got before they're allowed to eat it!
  • I'm dressed as all proper HR people should be dressed... as a referee!
  • My 12 year old found a "whoope cushion" costume at Walmart for $20. I probably should have bought it.

I wish I'd thought of that one, Frank. I'm sure DH still has his ref shirt & whistle from when he used to ref basketball games, so that would have been a quick & easy one for me!
  • I am not dressing up, but usually do not. I wore black in honor of the holiday, though. Wait a minute, I usually wear black, so no big stretch. I forgot to put on the orange halloween themed socks though. Instead am wearing black flip flops. (Casual Friday)

My boys are Spiderman and Hulk and are extremely excited, as usual. x:D

Last night we carved the jack-o-lantern and put up the decorations. No sense in getting started too early...
  • The referee shirt was originally my uniform back in the days of vending beer at Chiefs games. I broke it out again two years ago, for our family portrait. We took a few shots of me in my ref uniform and the rest of my family wearing the jerseys of their favorite NFL players. We actually ended up in the photographer's catalog and on his studio wall and website.
  • I ended up dressing as a severely injured skateboarder complete with arm sling and crutches.
