Hey Fun, speaking of generational taste differences, what do you think of short dresses with boots? I saw an ad this morning and my jaw dropped. The gal had on a simple a-line dress with short sleeves that was a few inches above her knees. She was wearing it with black knee-high boots and had long straight hair. It took me right back to my early teen years. I had a dress just like that only a slightly different color, and wore it with white knee-high boots. The hair was the same. They do say styles repeat, but it was still a shock. Do you like those styles?
I have noticed some paisley, but not too much. If I start seeing big loud flowers in blue and lime green mixed with polk-a-dots or stripes I might have to go to the funny farm, or at least do some major adjusting. That all might be a little too much 60's......Uh-oh. New song on my mind...Incense and Peppermints, meaningless nouns; turn on, tune in, turn your eyes around....
To quote my great-grandmother, "Ain't nothin' new, honey." Everything goes in cycles. Depending on the dress (some are too dressy to pull off with boots), I do like the style!
Paisley is making a comeback and I have seen blue with lime green!
Nae, I've been seeing a lot of those styles you were describing in fashion magazines lately. Personally, I loved those 60's looks with the cute little a-line dresses and the knee-high boots. Unfortunately, back then I was dependent on my mother to buy my clothes and she absolutely refused to get me a pair of the boots. (She was something of a control freak who had a strict aversion to allowing her kids to wear anything remotely trendy or fashionable). By the time I had enough babysitting jobs to save up the money, those boots had fallen out of popularity. I still love boots, though, and I do have a couple of pairs of really cool funky ones that are very similar to ones in that era.
Now you've done it....one mention of Incense & Peppermints and I've suddenly got the greatest hits of the late 60's running through my head!
The boots and dresses I can handle. I hate the dresses/skirts and leggins look. If you want to wear a dress, fine. If you want to wear pants and a blouse fine, but for pete's sake, make up your mind, don't wear both.
I loved those short dresses with boots. I don't think I can get away with it now though, I am going on 53. Somehow it just doesn't seem to look the same. x:D
I recently found out my 17 year old granddaughter is expecting. I hope this doesn't make her and her fiance rush into marriage. It is enough to deal with being a great-grandmother at 53. Hmmm...do you supposed she and I could dress in those short dresses and boots and go shopping? We would really be a pair! She loves to shop with me, but I can't really say she would want to be seen with me dressed that way.
No, Nae, those cute little outfits just don't quite look the same on somebody our age!
OMG, you're my age and you're going to be a great-grandma....I'm just not ready to hear that somebody as young as us is old enough for that. My oldest grandchild turns 11 this year and I was just thinking how old that seemed. Of course, if things had been slightly different and my children had reproduced starting at the young age I did (17), I could well be a great-grandma by now too. I have trouble some days reconciling how young I feel (mentally) with my actual chronological age. My older sister just became a great-grandma for the first time at 67 and I've been having trouble wrapping my brain around the concept that my sister is a great-grandma!
I like how with the Trabant the body is made of a material they call duraplast - a mixture of resin and cloth. Take it to your local tailor for repairs.
It's actually not that different from fiberglass. Ever patch fiberglass on a car? You put this special cloth over the hole, and cover it with resin. Let dry... sand before painting. Viola!
It had to be a laughing snort; she was eating tator tots trying to duplicate her old classmate's trick of snorting a tot through her nose (backwards!).

That was actually kind of interesting.
I will donate the pants to a worthy cause. Pank.

Except a Trabbie in the driveway will start a lot more conversations with your neighbors.
Steaks got it pretty much right. I was just joining in on the raucous laughter.
