This is the forum that's dead

  • I would agree with that statement.

I think the burden falls on MLS to do something about that. This forum in my opinion is one of the main selling points of the MLS subscription.

This forum interface is at least five years old if not older. In technology, thats a hundred years.

Newer forums allow avatars, instant messages, "fast" replies, buddy lists, etc. You can see who is online, who is having a birthday, which threads have recent comments.

There could be forum contests, giveaways, the "best HR answer of the week" award, free trips to Brentwood, regional get togethers for forum members, and so on.

Create a more vibrant community. More expert opinions mixed in with the "in the trenches" HR wisdom that members offer.

I find it dissapointing that nobody from MLS has commented on this thread.

I've been watching this thread without posting because I wanted to see what Forum members had to say first. It wouldn't have helped the debate to have moderators come on to say that we're doing a great job. x:-8

If you want my opinion, the Forum is achieving its primary goal: to give our subscribers a place where they feel welcome to ask for help and give help to others. It's great to see new names along with the veterans.

Sure, we'd like more people to participate. We constantly promote the Forum in our newsletters, our e-mail newsletter, and elsewhere. But I'd rather have the quality rather than quantity.

You raise some very good points, Paul, about ways we could improve the Forum. My role in the Forum is a lot smaller since I was put in charge of our training products full time, but I'll stir up the pot with Tony Kessler and the others.

  • Thanks James. We need this forum to stay lively. It keeps Ray off the streets.
