Wow, that gives pandering to your constituency a whole new meaning.

Its either an incredibly democratic gesture or very, very naive.

The irony is that the Taliban would probably shoot all the democrats if they had the opportunity.

I'm not saying whether or not I agree with Frist, but if you read this whole story it does make a bit more sense. This statement, taken out of context, does sound extreme. But kudos to Ray for trying to stir things up around here.

However, Paul, to say that Frist is pandering to his constituency, suggests that the majority of Democrats support the Taliban, which I very much doubt.

What makes sense is that he is saying it will take more than raw military power to accomplish the goal of setting up a democracy. But, to intentionally include terrorists in the intitial stages of the government is just inviting trouble.
