Warm-n-Fuzzy Ideas

Hello fellow forumites. This is a swell group. All the mean people seem to have left Actually, we're over on "the dark side". In any event, being that I am bi-forum, I enjoy a nice sandbox in which the whole group has things in common and can play well together. And it's nice to have a person overseeing our playtime so that he can whistle 'time out' if one of us starts misbehaving.

I have a suggestion and that's to have certain themes for days of the week, like we all agree to wear yellow on Mondays or Bass Weejuns on Thursdays. We can relate it to the moods we go through as fellow HR associates. Do you think my idea is OK? I hope you will like it. Maybe we can even tie this in with Paul's Book of the Month suggestion. Perhaps on days that we have book discussions, we could all wear Ascots and Blzers to sort of create an ambience.

I think we should go shoe shopping on Mondays and wear our new shoes on Thursdays. I'm amenable to almost everything except wearing an Ascot provided I am allowed to hug my stuffed penguin and suck on a tootsie roll pop at the same time.

When I worked for a law firm one of the partners launched "Dress Code Day." Each week, it would be announced that the following Monday was striped shirt day. Or blue shirt day. Or yellow power tie day. When all the guys participated, the looks on some of the clients' faces were priceless.

I never wear yellow and what the heck are bass weejuns and bizers? HR for me has black days and occassional red days but thats it. Course if chocolate is provided I'll wear whatever ya want!

bass weejuns are penny loafers - the best ones are made by Bass (I have a couple of pair myself). 'Blzrs' are "blazers" - usually a navy blazer, gray slacks, Bass weejuns, button down oxford shirt, ascot and silk pocket square makes a very preppy combination.

oooo a bLazer, I wear a black bLazer most days, goes nicely with jeans and tennis shoes too.

I appreciate your sense of style Judy, however, we may be better off wearing white tennis shorts with a nice cotton pique polo, preferable pink and a cashmere sweater of contrasting color. Dock shoes optional.

Oh, you know, it's that thing you do where you put your UNDERWEAR and other garments in a large, stationary machine -- possibly located in your utility room, mud room, or garage -- with some soap and possibly fabric softener; you turn it on, water pours in and it goes round and round, up and down, etc. On second thought, fuhgeddaboudit, commando is easier after all.

Dang! I knew there was something I forgot to do last weekend -- buy weejuns for Thursday. Must have been one of the few weekends of my life that I did NOT buy shoes.

As for the "don't ask - don't tell:" That takes all the fun out of it. But where I work sometimes you don't have to ask or tell, you can just plainly see that something is, uh, missing.
