Do you FMLA yourself?

I have been taking off mornings because my father is in the hospital and I'm scheduled to be there to take care of him then (other family members do other shifts). I have not filled out any FMLA paperwork(probably because I know I would approve which would be a blow to my ego because I would not be considered a key employee)(or maybe I'm afraid that I would not approve in which case I would have to be disciplined under the attendance rules). Of course, it may also be because I have obviously flipped my lid.

In any case, I was wondering if there is anybody else who doesn't sumbit FMLA paperwork on themselves.

I would FMLA myself only because if I expect others to follow the rules for FMLA, I can't expect any less of myself. It would be to my advantage to have the paperwork and approval in my file just in case anything might come up in the future about my attendance.

Must be because you've 'flipped your lid'. Fortunately, I haven't had to take FMLA leave, but I certainly would fill out the paperwork if I had to. And, you shouldn't be the one who determines if your request meets the requirements. There should be an alternate, just like if you were harassing someone.

The rules apply to you, too.

I agree - fill out the FMLA forms in case questions about your attendance would ever come up. If possible, have your supervisor or other designated employee, approve the leave. If not, at least you have the paper trail to show you followed the same rules as everyone else.

I had knee surgery in January. I insisted on a drug screen since I fell while running to an accident at work. I also insisted on completing the paperwork but would not approve it or disapprove. I gave it to someone else to review and approve. It was all to the letter, by the book. Why should it not be?

But, Whatever can claim she's married to the owner of the company and doesn't have to fiddle with such trivia.
