The Hanoi Witch is in Minneapolis today. If she's within spittin' distance, I'll be there.

I only wish he had had the nerve to, how shall I say, shimmy down his slacks and dump something else right in her lap! x:D
Some would say he already has 'no class' for chewing tobacco inside a public building and the really snooty would say he's classless simply for chewing. So, he really had nothing to lose.
He simultaneously became an instant hero to millions, a boor to a relative handful.
Though I strongly dis-respect (is that a word?) her, I don't think spitting on her proved anything worthwhile. All it really did was garner her some sympathy and add another black mark against Viet Nam vets.
I think sit-ins blocking the doors of stores who try to have her come and sign books would be much more poetic, but since that would only increase her sales in the end....
While I do not condone this guy's behavior, I can understand his sentiment. I am appalled that our veterans came back to America, after placing their lives on the line for us, and were spit on at the airport and treated badly by some who disagreed with us being over there. I think his actions somehow keep alive the memory of how we treated our own. I hope our children always respect the sacrifices of our service men and women, regardless of whether we agree with the conflict in which they are placed. It's not like they get to choose where they fight.
