That old David Bowie song is on a tape loop in my head as I try to clean out my office this week and prepare to take on a new role. I'll be moving from our subsidiary company into the corp. HR manager's position as of Monday. Scared but excited and frenzied the last couple of weeks...any sage words of advice from the forum to inspire or warn?

Thanks guys - my stomach is in knots right now, but you've made me feel quite a bit better. I also want to thank Don, even though he hasn't posted on this thread - he's been an inspiration - someday when I grow up I want to ride a motorcycle, build bottle trees, and and kick HR butt!

Uh... the reason Don does all those things is because he hasn't grown up - and has no intentions of growing up, and neither should you. Enjoy the new challenge and remember:you are still going to have to suffer the idiots - only now they are idiots with a lot more power!

Well it's the end of the first week in the new office - nobody bit me or tripped me or made fun of the way I dress yet. An auspicious start, but GOLLY - so much to do. Thanks for all your encouragement - my stomach acrobatics are finally subsiding. (How does one deal with stress-induced gas during a board meeting, anyway?)

I think I'll have that drink now - not a martini, but maybe either a shot of tequila or a nice smooth scotch - neat. Meet me in the bar?
