  • Hmm, it's kind of like wood smoke but sweeter. And I know there are many variations in wood smoke so don't ask what kind of wood!

    We have had a couple of kernels pop instead of burning, and occasionally I'll dump old maids in there for fun after a bowl of popcorn.

    I can't remember the whole list of things you can burn in there - cherry pits, soybeans, rice, any kind of corn (as long as it's not too wet), and wood pellets.

    Our gas and electric bills have been $60-$80 each per month, which is great considering we're in a very old, inefficient house. And that radiant heat kicks the crap out of slightly warmed air blowing around.
