Was anyone else sad about the death of Rodney Dangerfield? He was a funny man who got "No Respect."

I really liked him and am sad to see him go!

Yes, I was saddened to hear that we lost Rodney. Truly one of our classics. I also was sad to hear about Gordo Cooper's passing a day or so ago. "Go, Hot Dog, GO!!!!!!!"

I am usually a fan of comedy and one-liners, but for some reason could never stand watching Rodney Dangerfield. Sorry Rodney. He ranked right up there with Jim Carey in my book. x:(

I know, I'm cruel. I could take it or leave it. The movie was funny, but his style just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe it's his looks? Maybe the insults against himself. It gets old after awhile.

Although I feel bad talking about him like this today. Sorry Rodney.

I will miss the one-liners and his occasional surprise appearances in cameos on sitcoms, etc.

How ironic that during his press conference, when they asked how long he would be in the hospital his reply was, "If everything goes well about two weeks - if not, about an hour and a half."

Thank you Larry. I've been struggling to come up with a one-liner from Rodney in Caddyshack all morning. I've not watched it in a while and my memory has faded. I could of come up with a few from Chevy or Bill or that guy that was on the Mary what's her face show, but not Rodney.

I use the Judge's line, "You'll get nothing and like it!", quite often with my children. They don't seem to get the humor.

I must be honest that sometimes Rodney got 'old' and I would not pick his movies to watch over and over; but, the man was a genius and capitalized on a couple or three of one-liners and made millions. I would love to see him in a place like Vegas, up close and sit at a small round table with him on break and drink a tall, cold beer. The man is now in his element alongside Ray Charles and a host of other recent 'departees'. I am not among those who say he was of no value because he was not a young hunk or a slick talent. He was what he was. And a master at it. He, for sure, filled a place in our lives, copying nobody and leaving shoes for nobody to fill. His young, buxom widow will surely be able to afford to eat out regularly.

I heard on the TV that they are going to remake Caddy Shack...Who is to play Rodney...Cedric the Entertainer! How sad x:'(!!! They said that he will have some big shoes to fill. Doubt he can fill them, Rodney was one of a kind. RIP Rodney...you've gone to the big gopher hole in the sky.

I liked Rodney's standups. He was really funny talking with hosts (Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, etc.) as well.

Cedric the Entertainer has his own style and is very funny, as well. He wouldn't try to be like Rodney (who could!) but would add his own flavor.

They would have to rewrite the movie. It seemed the lines were written around Dangerfield, rather than him learning them and saying them. For anyone else to say those lines would not even be funny. It would be like that repulsive Martin Sheen playing Moses.

You can almost imagine him watching his funeral - "Oh, so NOW I get some respect?!" I thought he was great, and how often doe we see or hear a good comic now that relies on wit instead of profanity...?

Those were great! But, caution, some are risque. It was like listening to his routine. He is no doubt in Heaven this morning standing in the corner with his nose against the wall! He was the ultimate 'Grown Up Dennis The Menace'.
