Toot, you can't just tell us it's elephant appreciation day without doing some research on it. Like, what does one do on this day? Take an elephant to lunch? Buy him/her a bouquet of peanuts? Take 'em to the spa and give it a massage?

My calendar shows Thursday to be Sukkot or Sukkoth. It's a Jewish harvest festival commemorating the temporary shelter granted to the Jews in the wilderness.

Sounds like another appreciation day created by the greeting card and flower industries. However, I am not close enough to any elephants to send them a card (besides, and I know this sounds biased, but I have yet to meet an elephant who could read).
