About 2 million Americans are injured annually in falls; 40% are caused by footwear. Of those, apx. 400,000 are due to high heels.
That one's for Sam and Rad x;-)
82 Americans were killed by bears between 1906 and 1995. 140,000 injuries and at least 22 deaths a year are attributed to injuries related to stuffed animals.

Besides, it's not WHAT you wear, it's HOW you wear it. It takes practice to learn how to glide in heals and platforms. After one or two embarrassing splats, you've got it.
. . and those heals are 'equalizers' in more ways than one.
:-)
Death by stuffed animal? If it's other than babies ya gotta wonder what those people were really up to?
I expect Safety to jump in here soon.
I also question the validity of the numbers, sounds like another case of junk science, especially if the statistics came from OSHA.
Oh, Sam, what were you referring to as getting stuck in rubber mats and brick sidewalks, heels I assume? If that’s the case I’ll give you a prescription for a cure, don’t do that. Wear shoes that are not of the spike type, I know you have a plethora of choices in your closet.x:D
I had a quasi shoe related injury due to cobblestones. I was at the Tower of London and those of you who have been there know that the spaces between the cobblestones are wide and deep. Well, my FLAT walking shoe got stuck in the space, down to the side I went, breaking my ankle. It still hurts from time to time in the winter; can I get intermittent FMLA for that? x:P
3. … To Wear High Heels
This should get shoe-loving ladies pumped up: Researchers at the University of Warwick in England say women who wear 3-inch heels are actually less likely to suffer joint problems.
Conventional wisdom has long held that high heels can cause arthritis, especially in the knee, and that's why women are more than twice as likely as men to be hobbled by such ailments.
Nevertheless, the university's recent study of 111 women, ranging in age from 50 to 70, showed that 67 percent of the ladies experienced no pain after years in fancy footwear.
Women were actually much more likely to have knee arthritis if they were obese or engaged in years of demanding physical work, such as housework, researchers say.
Obviously, if you are wearing stilettos, you're not planning on working too hard nor are you likely to stay home stuffing your face.
No, seriously, they were published in the August 27, 2004 edition of Injury Prevention & Cost Control Alert.
Webster says - A small strong dagger; a pointed instrument for making eyelet-holes.
And people wear these on their feet???
I always thought a stiletto was an Italian switchblade.
Well, no one took me seriously.
Granted, maybe I should have had a better weapon than a stilleto heel.
Has this happened to anyone else?''
Ha, I must be catching the european sense of humor...this was in a thread on another site!!!Then I came to peek in the forum and voila! a thread on stilleto's...lolx:7
