the lost Dr. Seuss book

I Love My Job

I love my job, I love the pay.
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss; she is the best.
I love her boss and all the rest.

I love my office and its location.
I hate to have to go on vacation.
I love my furniture, drab and gray,
and the paper that piles up every day.

I love my chair in my padded cell.
There's nothing else I love so well.
I love to work among my peers.
I love their leers and jeers and sneers.

I love my computer and its software;
I hug it often though it don't care.
I love each program and every file,
I try to understand once in a while.

I'm happy to be here, I am, I am;
I'm the happiest slave of my Uncle Sam.
I love this work; I love these chores.
I love the meetings with deadly bores.

I love my job-I'll say it again.
I even love these friendly men,
these men who've come to visit today
in lovely white coats to take me away.

  • I like your rhyme
    I do. I do.
    I read it 4 times.
    That's two times two.
For posting it here, I think you're swell.
Now I too shall return to my cell.
  • I checked my ears
    I checked them twice.
    Your penchant for rhymes
    is more than nice.
    I sense a second career
    lurking not too far inside.
Don D's a poet, we like the ride.
  • This made me smile, it made me grin,
I had to read it all again,
My job, as well, is not so good,
I want to bang my head on my car hood.

    Two people quit just today
Why it was they didn't say,
    Now I scramble and replace
    With another grumpy face.

They show up late and wonder why
I roll my eyes and look sky-high,
They don't care, it seems to me,
    No responsibility

Alas it's Friday, the weekend's here
I'll go home and have a beer
    Something stronger may just help
I'll drink heavily 'til my liver yelps

Ta ta for now, see you soon
I think there must be a full moon,
By Monday morn it'll be all better
Unless I find another quitting letter.
