Did you know?

There is this commercial on the radio that presents a "Did you Know" fact that I just had to look up, and it's true!

[font color="blue"]
When the Brooklyn bridge opened in 1883, believe it or not, nobody would be the first to walk over a bridge completed by a woman. (She was Emily Roebling, wife of Washington who was crippled during construction, daugher-in-law of the initial designer, John Augustus Roebling who died from complications of an acident during construction).

Fortunately, the circus was in town and Emily was able to prove the bridge’s strength by walking a herd of elephants across the walkway. However, twelve pedestrians were killed that day when rumors of the bridge’s collapse created a stampede (of people not elephants).
