On another forum they started a story line like this almost 2 years ago. It is still going with well over 5000 posts.

I like the idea too, and I agree there seems to be 3 different stories developing now. I went off the line above mine instead of trying to bring it back on track.

My advice is to ignore story lines that don't develop the plot or are self-serving. Its gone pretty fast so far. Hopefully people will slow down and let the plot develop a little.

Up to this point its had more suprises than the Superbowl half-time show.

Watch closely. The sexuality of the players will be crucial. Things unfold rather rapidly relying on redundant revelations.

I just looked at the thread for the first time a moment ago. Everyone's storytelling skills are astounding and it's clear to me that before it reaches 100 posts Paul will sell the script to the Fox network and they will run it as a summer replacement.

I keep looking for an opportunity to post "Suddenly, a shot rang out!" but so far it hasn't seemed appropriate.

Please don't! This reminds me of an exercise we did in a high school creative writing class. Everyone wrote a paragraph starting a story, then passed it to the person behind them, who wrote a paragraph, etc. The person in front of me only put two characters in his story, and had them shoot each other at the end of the paragraph. It was a huge pain.

Too late.. I noticed the morning that a shot has rung out. Now we have employee violence issues, FMLA/ADA/workers comp issues...

All you East coasters get to sway the story your way in the wee hours of the morning but remember that the West Coast gets the last word.

Somehow I think the body count is going to be adding up faster than a Dean Koontz novel.

Hey Paul, are you going to intervene? Maybe we should start over and set additional ground rules. This story has more curves than Marilyn Monroe. Good idea in theory, but in application it's bound to make your head spin like Linda Blair.

Its a little hard because two people may be responding to the same thing at the same time, so it doesn't always make sense. But it is fun!

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to remove my name from the original post.. No, its been fun to watch the twists and turns. There was no lack of contributions.

Now that we have learned its all been a dream, it will be interesting to see if it dies a slow death or revives.

I figured the best way to try and bring it back on track was to say it was just a dream. It was getting pretty far out there.

If it worked for DALLAS it should work for our story. Now that I think about it...did it even work for DALLAS? :-?

Of course, that dream device is about as old as the shot ringing out device, so I don't think we're plowing any new ground with this story. My next goal is to wait very patiently and try to plant the phrase "it was Col Mustard in the den with the pipe."

Little did I know that Paul had set himself up as the matronly 11th grade English teacher, judging and grading our contributions, offering critical judgements along the way, nudging the direction of the 'story build'. He should absent himself from the process altogether instead of attempting to direct its course or tilt its slant. x:-)

Uh Oh. Sorry. I put the guys in the outhouse and had them slide into the pond. I failed to realize beetul had removed them from the pond. Due to my oversight, I still have them in the pond. Since I point out my own error I won't need eleven of you to do it for me. Thanks. x:-)
