Who among you recalls Mrs. Mendlebright, Barney Fife's landlady. The lady who caught Barney using a hotplate in his room to cook chili and invited him to leave her boarding house. The lady who checked Barney's lightbulb and found a 70 watt and blessed him out telling him the maximum wattage was 40. If you do, the question is, who knows what her MOST famous 'role' was? I'll give you the answer in a bit. Care to venture a guess? Mrs. Mendlebright's real claim to fame was __________________. x:-)

I was thinking that too, Jaded, but don't have a clue why. I remember the episode about the hot plate, but for the life of me can't picture her. Please, Don, don't let this go on too long as it will bug me til you tell.xpray

I'm with mwild - Enid Markey played the very first Jane in Adventures of Tarzan in the early 1900's.

Our resident google expert, quick draw Wild, was correct. I had never thought to do a search but after I saw MWild's post, I found out how she got the answer. We were watching Mayberry last night and my wife, who knows every little detail about that show, told me that. Mrs. Mendlebright actually played the first Jane in the earliest Tarzan series. I just can't see Mrs. Mendlebright in a loincloth all slithered up against a half-naked Johnny Weismuller, or whoever Tarzan was. Something about that just don't fit.

um, Don - actually our QA and S&R folks play a trivia game at lunch, which, when I can, I play as well - it came up awhile ago & I happened to remember it. I make no apologies for using google to help people out, but I don't cheat at trivia either. x:-)
