Handicapped parking for the blind

AP is reporting that a legislator in Georgia has introduced a bill to allow handicapped parking permits for the blind. The legislator is quoted as saying that Parking lots are dangerous places for people who can't see cars coming so they should have the right to park closer to the buildings. Furtheremore, "It is possible that a blind person would have a car driven by their spouse or caregiver."
Do they have driver's licenses in Georgia?

In California, illegals need licenses. In Georgia, it's the blind. In Mississippi, we feel tractors should certainly have the right of way on Interstates. So what's the big deal? It's no different from the fifth graders in NYC schools having group license registration on Thursdays when the state sends in the departmental people to the schools. The theory is they can certify them to drive and register their weapons on one visit to the school.

Don, I hate to keep correcting you :~~ but everyone knows that you never register a gun that has been bought in the South. x:D Registered weapons have a use that Ray can explain to you.

I'm surprised this bill wasn't proposed in California. We'll probably come up with a bill for blind illegals who drive tractors.

I've always wondered why they have braille on numbers at the drive up ATM's at the banks. x:D

That bill will be for armed,illegal, blind, tractor operators. x;-)

Wow! I feel safer already. This has eliminated the possibility of fighting a blind person for the last parking space.

That reminds me an anecdote I once read:

"The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street. I was crossing with a coworker of mine when she asked if I knew what the
buzzer was for. I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, "What on earth are blind people doing driving?"

I guess the answer is, they got their driver's license in Georgia.

Yes, I loved that bit. But - think about it - it might actually be a safer way to drive. Your fellow motorists would certainly give you a wide berth.

"It is mandatory for a motorist with criminal intentions to stop at the city limits and telephone the chief of police as he is entering the town."

Just knowing that this law exists makes me feel safer every day. x;-)

Yes, but, the conspiracy side of me says that it's all an elaborate plot by corporate America wrapped around the 'veil' of public safety to have more people stop at starbucks. Every town has a starbucks & every town has a pay phone next to the starbucks. x;-)
