Demotivation

I don't know what kind of crazy mailing list I'm on, but I recently received a catalog from a company called "Despair, Inc." Their motto is "Motivational posters don't work. But our Demotivational posters don't work even better."

They do send-ups of the "motivational" posters that you see all the time and get from places likes "Successories" - let me tell you, I nearly sprayed coffee out my nose when I read some these.

A couple of examples -

Demotivation - Sometimes the best solution to morale problems is just to fire all the unhappy people.


Consulting - If you're not part of the solution, there's good money to made in prolonging the problem.


Cluelessness - There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.


I'm tempted to buy a few and put them up in my office to see if anyone notices!

These are all really cute and we get a chuckle out of them, and we deserve a chuckle. I was given a ceramic jug last Christmas labelled, "Ashes of Problem Employees" with a big cork stopper in the top. It was cute, humurous and whatever, but I felt odd about having it displayed in the office. I guess I have to ask, "What is the WORST thing that can possibly happen if I display this?" Although really funny, it may bite you in the butt.

I discovered this company about three years ago and order their calendar each year to send to some close HR friends and clients. They all look forward to it.

I ordered notecards that say "Demotivation - Sometimes the best solution to morale problems is to just fire all of the unhappy people." Everyone laughs that gets a note from me.

Check out the valentine hearts and T-shirts they sell. They are wonderful!

I ordered the Pessimist's Coffee Mug for my husband. It has a fill line halfway down the mug because the glass is always half empty!
