All you working stiffs enjoy yourselves next week...I'm on an 8-day cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Course there's this little tropical storm lurking out there - the first ever recorded in December - but I'm not scaired! (Like he** I'm not xpray). I've heard there's computers on them thar ships, but it's pretty expensive. I'm going to miss you guys, but not sure if it will be enough to pay money to chat with you. Have a good week! x:D

I've heard about those casino big-cheese types who get all these grand trips! Watch out for the tour director who collects womens' credit cards and the guy who sings on Tuesday and Thursday nights on stage and is always smiling at the old ladies. He's up to no good and will sweep you off your feet and abscond with your cash! Don't eat the scrambled eggs, never touch a doorknob, don't sit on the seat, take along your own fork and beware the 'locals'. Also wear shoes or socks in your cabin, always. You never know what the last schmucks did on that carpet! Otherwise, have a great time and wear your shades!

Saw your post too late. Ocho Rios is pretty but the natives are overbearing. Beware!

Think about it. You are in Jamaica, and it's obvious you are a tourist. As you get out of your cab or touring van a group of merchants (?) arroach you with their wares. You are trying to wave them off and they shove their stuff at you. Your first reaction is to grab it. Once you have their stuff in your hand they refuse to take it back. Other than buying the dam thing, the only recourse you have is to put it down on the ground. You have just created a hostile situation and an angry merchant.

Maybe overbearing was not quite strong enough?

Beag, Maybe it would work for you, but with my hands in my pockets and muscling through would not be in my best interests. There would be parts of me that would be vulnerable. Got the picture? If you need me to be more descriptive, forget about it!

Talk about reputation. As my sister and I are getting off the boat, we face a line of people offering to get us cabs to drive us to town (1/4 mile away) or to a special shopping mall (at the end of the pier) or to walk with us into town to protect us. In a loud voice my sister says "Forget it. We're from Brooklyn." No one else on the pier bothered us and it "scared" off people in town.
