Employers' Forum Greatest Hits

Watching (and participating in) the activity in the other forum regarding the menorah as holiday decor has made me wonder: Why can't we have a Forum's Greatest Hits or Best of the Forum category? My vote for top contenders would have to include the Great Confederate Flag Debate (or the Confederate Flag Furball as I have come to call it) and this discussion of the Menorah has all the earmarks of a classic in the making, and therefore worthy of inclusion.

Which ones would you all include? x:-)

good grief Beagle. .this could be major. .you almost would have to break it down by category or have categories ie funniest, most thought provoking, greatest digression from original post, most educational, best recipe. I agree on the confederate flag, but there have been sooooooo many. There was a good Christmas memory type thread last year. .also your thread on what made us who we are. .there have been several where people have shared their backgrounds. This is mind boogling.

I missed the confederate flag debate - it ocurred the week before I signed on. I agree with Mwild's "Atheist" post if for no other reason than people had trouble spelling it. But, the best are going to be the ones that were controversial. And I've enjoyed the Menorah thread, too. I'll have to think about the others. Oh wait, we should include the ones where we posted pictures. They did generate a lot of hits and that's how Beagle and I found out we are twins separated at birth.

And Ray, you obviously know nothing about military issue clothing. The flight jacket is brown. The straitjacket is off-white canvas with buff-colored leather straps.

Nope, know nothing about military issue clothing. Knew that most straight jackets are off white canvas - just thought you had a special one.

I'm very concerned about this color thing you have. Note the discription above - not white, but "off-white with buff colored straps." Are you sure they're not ecru instead of buff-colored?

When I first entered the Forum, there was a discussion going on where (someone)had used a phrase about pants being in a wad. Someone misunderstood the post and a long tread of debate ensued. I visited the tread every day and was afraid to chime in. But, alas - nothing clears the air like a thunderstorm.

I particularly liked the impressive views on drug testing - especially Don D's and James'.

Took me a while to get to know the "regulars." I have great regard for Forumites.

Don't forget the one where Margaret escaped to an island with a large ape. I don't remember anything about any Confederate Flag discussion. The most interesting material is found among all those private mails Ray sends me in which he so totally incriminates himself. I can be set financially for life if I decide to blackmail. I also remember the one about 'panties in a wad' and I also remember bearing the brunt of it!

Am I the only one who notices what an agitator and instigator this parabeagle guy has become over the past two or three days? All he needs is a back row desk and a handfull of spitballs.

By the way, February 6, 2004, will be the first anniversary of the posting of the Confederate Flag thread (I looked it up). x;-)

I saw what you and Ray were accusing me of on that other thread this morning before I was even at work and had a chance to defend myself. And all after I compared you to the lovely and talented Lucy van Pelt in my Charlie Brown thread! The nerve! x;-)

As a relatively new forum addict, I would vote for the forum itself. I missed out on some of these greatest hits being reference, but promise I will find the time to research and review. But on to my point - a person can learn so much about the nuances of this crazy HR profession by reading these topics. Great debates, excellent information and delivered with personality. The pictures posted really help, but you can almost see some of the forummaniacs pounding away on their keyboards - brows furrowed, PORK OCCASIONALLY SPEAKING LOUD, lots of laughter and entertainment while we exchange views, learn and grow.

But, don't be fooled by the wiley ways of the parabeagle. He will claim kinship to Ray and pretend they run as a duet. But, it is he who will disrupt, agitate and instigate and rile folks to no end and then slink away with a grin. All the while pretending to have a honey in waiting in a Southern state....and at the same time checking his road atlas for backroads to nearby states. Hmmm.

There have been many memorable threads but my all time favorite has to be the one about the person who was writing in poop on the bathroom wall. That one had it all: mystery, intrigue, accusations, comedy, puns, tears, helpful advice, not so helpful advice, a lecture, and more puns.

It's got to be on the top of the pile for me. Pardon the expression.
