Happy Bosses Day to all of you!

How many of you are getting goodies piled on your desk? How many of you are doing the piling?

I am getting nothing, and giving nothing. What's the perfect bosses gift? At my last job I received flowers and chocolate. What about all of you?

My Personnel Specialist, though being nice, also had a mean streak because she knows I'm trying to lose weight. But, she was just getting even with me.

I got a card and a gift certificate for the local feed mill (I'm not into "useless stuff", i.e. flowers, jewelry, candles, things that need to be dusted).

My boss would consider it sucking up if I gave him something or even acknowledged the day...and that is fine by me. We don't even acknowledge birthdays we both take our respective days off. He did give me some lousy fruit for Christmas last year.

I have a card for my boss which I will send through the impersonal courier. My evaulation is next week so I probably need to send a card at least!

My employee won't get me anything. She has been absorbed into baby land and currently the world revolves around her pregnancy and upcoming blessed event.

My boss is in Italy this and next week. What's up with that? He went on a cruise to Mexico a few weeks ago. On the other hand, I would never want his job in a million years. I like my little ol' HR life. He can have the lavish vacations.

I received a candle, cat figurine and some notepads from one of the ladies that works directly with me. (Even though I am not her boss!)
I actually gave my boss a goodie bag filled with some of his favorite things so he can watch baseball and enjoy! (Summer sausage, cheese, crackers, cashews and a six pack of Heinekin!) Take me out to the ball game. . . .

I am reminded of the best Boss's Day I ever had, though. At one company, I was responsible for supervising reception/mailroom staff as well as running the HR function. for boss's day one year, everyone got together and bought me a t-shirt that said "I'm the Boss, That's Why" on the back and a battery-powered Uzi water gun that made real automatic weapon noises when you pulled the trigger(you must remember this was the mid-80s when weapons weren't a big deal). Unfortunately, they also bought the Pres. the same type of gun so we were constantly having watergun fights in the hall.

Glad you told me! I used to have a lady working with/for me who would always wear a black and white herringbone straight skirt with a certain blouse on boss' day because she knew it was my favorite. Then she would curl up in a chair in my office and smoke most of the day. Sometimes there were brownies. Occasionally we stayed a little late. Think I'll email her. x}>

Don, sounds like an interesting relationship the two of you had. Reminds me of my past good bosses and I think I'll e-mail them. Thanks for the idea.

I told my folks that if they gave me anything - I would fire 'em. Just kiddng. My folks didn't do anything & I'm happier for it - we appreciate each other each and every day! Happy Bosses Day to the rest of you!

I forgot...so I'll just do up a card. My boss and I started out as peers, and it was that way for five years. Then she became the director, four years ago, but we're still more like peers. I'll make a card. She'll be happy. I usually get flowers from my staff of five in the afternoon.

My boss would think I was quiting if I sent him a bosses card. So many cut backs I have not people to boss around :DD

Last year when I had introduced a wellness program that could put up to $300 a year extra in their checks, I was overwhelmed with Boss's day gifts. This year when I just implemented the new absenteeism and tardiness policy, I am not so popular. Must be a lesson in there somewhere.

My 'friend' from the earlier post just agreed to meet me for an appropriate exchange of gifts. I won't be able to say more. Leslie, how do you bill roses to yourself?

I was as surprised as could be when I found a gift bag on my desk with a card and stained glass candle holder in it, from my staff of one (half, actually).

Really made my day, and I told her so.

I got a dozen yellow roses from one ee and a bouquet of mixed flowers from another. Everyone else - including me - brought food for us all to share for breakfast. We had a feast: breakfast tacos, danish, fruit salad, muffins, and juice. I'm planning to take my boss a bottle of wine tomorrow, because I knew I wouldn't see him today.
