WOW!! I'm pretty sure I got deleted after checking the thread! It IS his real name!!!!!!!!! Should I tell him he was deleted? I wonder how he will feel?
Since I've stirred up a bit of controversy by deleting posts, let me explain how we decide what's appropriate for the Employers Forum. We seldom delete messages, and the moderator will normally check with another moderator before deleting a message.
It's impossible to have hard and fast rules, so it's usually a judgement call by the moderators. I think it's similar to you deciding whether an employee's language is appropriate for your workplace. On one hand, we're all adults, but on the other hand, some language is offensive to some people.
A lot of it depends on context. For example, you may need to tell us some offensive language that an employee used. But if you use that same language to describe your boss, that may be inappropriate.
In this thread, I wouldn't mind a few jokes about male anatomy. But there were 29 of them! If you heard a group of employees telling 29 jokes like this, you'd probably put a stop to it. We considered deleting the entire thread, but a lot of people liked it. So I skimmed through the 90-some messages and deleted a lot of them.
Another type of message that we'll delete is a personal attack on another Forumite. Again, it's a judgement call. It's fine to disagree with a person's opinions, ideas, or actions, but please don't engage in personal attacks or name-calling.
The moderators don't read every message on the Forum, so if you ever see a message that seems inappropritate, please e-mail the moderator.
I don't really have a problem with the deletions James. In fact I feel part of a naughty but unique group. But I just have to say mine was not a joke it REALLY is his name!
What's alarming to me is that SMace had to look at his AMEX bill to know he ate at the Dong Garden. If you had no idea where you were eating, you might easily have walked into the Dong Excision Clinic instead. But, then you would have known when you got your bill.
I was waiting to see if anyone was paying attention. Doesn't surprise me it was DANDY DON! (Ode to PORK). I ordered delivery. It was on the hotel delivery list and I really didn't pay attention to the name. But when you have this thread open while your reading your AMEX bill, well the rest is history.
Maybe we need a whole new thread called "For the Truly Wretched" or "Go There at Your Own Risk". All us bad boys and girls can freely post without guilt.
Been out for a few days...but I just about died laughing at this thread! I wish I had gotten a chance to read the deleted messages...I am sure they were lovely! Seriouisly, this is what i have missed the last few days!
LAST EDITED ON 09-26-03 AT 07:23AM (CST)[p]Marc, Don is so far ahead both with the number posts and the abuse, I could never catch up.
Last night in the real estate transfer section of the local paper, someone named "Peter Dingle" bought some property. I think I'd go by my middle name.
We have an employee names John Woo, which is nothing spectacular until you know his middle name is Wah. So his full name JOHN WAH WOO...... I had to do a double take when I saw this...I thought what could his parents been thinking of.

It's the "at-will" doctrine for posts.

I didn't stop to eat, but I once drove past a take-out place in a strip mall that was called Mighty Huang.
In Burlington Iowa there used to be a construction company called Steel Erections.
Sorry James.
Don, I apologize for hurting your feelings. x;-)

I had to share these two that I came across in the term employee records:
Richard Sessions (more funny because he used the usual nickname for Richard)
Seymour Weiner.
These definitely made me blink. Oh, we also had a Merry Christmas, seriously.
