what is this world coming to?

I am sitting at the table this morning eating breakfast watching the local morning news when all of a sudden they are showing Madonna and Brittney Spears making out from the MTV awards show last night. I don't want to see that kind of thing on my t.v. That's why I don't have cable. And just when I think it is over, they show it again. Now I have this horrible picture in my head that I don't want! What a horrible way to start the day.

I guess none of this would really suprise or bother me except I have these two beautiful daughters that I am trying to raise and I have no intention of letting our culture decieve them into thinking that their value and identity rests solely on their ability to show flesh and wiggle their behinds.
Call me a prude but take a moment and reflect on the messages were sending our children because they are listening.
Ok, now I sound like one of those NBC commercials I hate so much. Nevermind.

I am thinking that there isn't anything Madonna wouldn't do for attention.
I am also trying to raise my son to realize that women are people -not just "bootys" and that he can be unpierced, (until he has his own house) un"arted" (again- own house rule) and a good and decent man.
I know people with piercing and body art that are good and decent people. (before you spend your ire on me) BUT I think 8 years old is a little young to make those somewhat permanent decisions about his body.
Your son is 8? My daughter is 7. Let's talk in about 20 years.
That is, if you want me for an in-law.

"Proving they've come a long way from their Mouseketeer days, the young pop tarts gave a gyrating, writhing tribute to Madonna to open the show. Dressed in the same kind of white bustier wedding dress Madonna wore while performing "Like a Virgin" during MTV's inaugural awards broadcast in 1984, Spears and Aguilera sang a cover of the not-so-innocent tune."
Don't kiss Paul if he and I are to become in-laws!

My baby won't be ready to be married at 18!
(He might think he is.....but he won't be!!!!!)
However, you might offer the same for Don to kiss Paul.

Maybe I am not as with it as Britney and Madonna. I don't know what point they were making. Perhaps it was purely for publicity.
At the end of the day, its just a little more of your soul you sell to make it in Hollywood.

awards( no, MTV hasn't been about music in a long
time) and just thought, gee, we're all getting old.
I remember my mom saying about the Beatles
album cover of "Meet the Beatles",(you know, the
one with their faces on a black background) anyway,
she said,"I'd hate to run into THEM in a dark alley."
At six, I think I still didn't agree but what the hey,
I was a "kid" not an "adult". Hence, my point, as vague
as it is,"Age does not an adult make."
