I have a similar story, some what related. I caught an ee reading the newspaper at his desk. I asked what he was doing and he replied, "I didn't get a big raise last year so I've come up with a creative way to increase my per hour rate". Turns out he was reading an industry related article that his boss asked him to read but I thought his response was creative!
It was a heck of a way to start a Monday.
