My SO is starting his own concrete contracting company and has charged me - ME of all people - with coming up with a name! The usual suspects are taken, so we're looking for something catchy - like Rock Solid (already taken in AZ.)
I am horrible at this sort of thing - any ideas?

If you could talk your significant other into keeping the business open 24-7, you could call it, "Rock Around the Clock." tk
I've also heard of people naming their companies A-1 Concrete for example, or ABC Concrete so that they are listed first in the phone book.
Good luck!
Just a few off the top of my head!

We have a moving company here in Ohio (maybe it's a national chain, I'm not sure)_that is called "Three Men and a Truck". They have become pretty successful. Maybe a name along those lines?
"Trust in Concrete"
"In Concrete we trust"
What a job you have, Leslie!

I really like Rock Around the Clock. However, while they do pour very early in the morning, I think I'd have a tough time convincing them to run 24/7 for the sake of a name!
I do want to explain that SO is "significant other," partner, boyfriend. One of my sons does work for him, though.
We thought of Rolling Stone and Hard Rock, but worried about the trade mark thing for both. There is already a Rock Solid Ready Mix in town - that would be too close.
What my boyfriend does is estimate jobs, gets them ALL (he wishes!) then he has crews who go form, pour and finish the concrete. He mostly does small commercial, large residential (working on a 8600 square foot house right now x:o) and multi-housing stuff.
He's the concrete division manager for a privately owned company that is selling to a large corporation. He's never been corporate before, and isn't sure how that's going to be. So he's activating his own license as a back up and wants a new name.
And Don, I do love the second one, especially the tag line - but don't know if I can get him to buy into it.
Reference to that song reminds me of high school -- we used to giggle hysterically about the implications of "Easy To Be Hard." I doubt that the double intendre was lost on Three Dog Night.
Meanwhile, back to the task. I visited a rock yard last week to buy some flagstones for a path, and I liked their name: Bedrock. Sort of invokes a Flintstones motif. How about: "Bedrock Concrete - Easy for Us, Hard for You."
No need to thank me for this idea -- but I will expect some royalties.
Already thought of that one on my own and guess what? Someone already has it.
bummer.

Ok that's enough from me.x:D

Wouldn't it be great if your Honey's name/nickname was Sandy, Rocky, Paver, McGravel, Crete or Pourcrete? No huh?
He blurts out (and no, unfortunately, ritanaz, no catchy nicknames) says, "All American."
And so we are. I told him now we could use the slogan, "In concrete we trust." I think he's leaning more toward, "A foundation you can build on," but I prefer the former.
Thanks all - it was a kick. And just think, if anyone opens a "house" in Nevada, you have all kinds of names to choose from!
