Reasonable Suspicion Testing

We do NOT do pre-employment drug testing or random testing. It was recommended to me that we have a reasonable suspicion testing policy, so if we suspect something is going on, we can test. Anybody have anything like that? Does it tie in with accidents, or is that separate?

  • Since we have to abide by FMCSA regs, we do pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, random, post-accident, return to duty and follow-up testing. Just know that for reasonable suspicion testing, the management staff needs to be trained before they can reasonably speculate. We also have a form that management must complete before taking one of our employees for a reasonable suspicion test.
