  • Our company has such a policy. If it involves use of a company-issued cell phone, it is company policy not to use it while driving. Should a call come in while driving, one must place the phone on the seat while navigating to pull off to a safe area and then continue with the call. If there is no safe access to pull over, the call must be ended and when a safe area is available, the call can then be returned.

For employees who have their own personal cell phones, we can only restrict that they are not to be in use while driving on company property.
  • We updated our EE handbook about a 1 1/2 years ago to reflect the following: Cell phone usage while driving is discouraged, If you must use the cell phone while driving, if possible pull off to the side of the road to make your call, if not use the hands-free headsets that are provided.

  • Our company requires you to pull off to a safe area and take the call or that your car be equipped with a "hands free" unit.
