We're looking to add a 15-20 minute session to our spring inservice addressing appropriate/inappropriate behavior in the workplace. Not workplace violence but more sexual harassment. We've had a few cases recently where employees all of a sudden decided they didn't want to banter back and forth any longer with sexual connotations and have complained. All issues were investigated and resolved -fortunately. Is there a resource I can turn to for some guidelines or do you have a policy in place addressing this specifically?

15 to 20 minutes may not be enough training to make you compliant. We have used a consultant by the name of Scott Warrick to do some of our training and he was very well received by management and non-managment associates. He just made a training video on Illegal Harassment. If you would like information on how to contact him, let me know.

With all of the sexual harassment hoopla we were hearing, I decided it was time to give all employees mandatory training on the topic of harassment. I did not know where to turn but figured maybe our local law enforcement agency might be able to give me a heads-up. They did! They give sexual harassment training, at no charge, to public agencies. Being we are a public agency, they gave the 1 hour training session to all of our employees.

It was great. You may want to check with your local law enforcment agency. If they can't do it, they may know of someone who does it. Also, contact your worker's comp carrier for a lead.
