    Thankfully we do not give out letters and only reply to written requests with the EE or former EE's authorization to release info.

    I had a professor pass this along about writing reference or recommendation letters:

    I cannot recommend this former employee
    too highly.

    Think about that statement for a minute. Does that mean they are the best and you can't say enough good stuff about them, or does it say they were lousy and you have nothing good to say?????

    You've fulfilled your obligation without telling that little white lie.
