Policy on Policies

I am considering drafting a "Policy on Policies"; i.e., an overall policy addressing how policies are drafted, approved and implemented. For example, this policy might say something like "all policies must be reviewed and approved by a manager (and/or officer) before being implemented". Is anyone familiar with a policy like this? Can you recommend any examples and/or language? Thanks for your assistance!

What is the need for a policy like that? Surely the managers and department heads at your place of business already know that. So, why have a policy stating the obvious? Is the place run so 'footloose' as to have policies popping up from all directions without proper thought and approval? Just wondering.

Thanks for the message. Our organization is large, and we're just looking to establish some uniformity in the way our policies are generally developed and implemented.
