If anyone out there has a policy in place for rewarding exceptional service or one-time outstanding accomplishments by employees, please share. We currently have a program in place where with the approval of the City Manager, an employee can receive a cash bonus of between $50-$300 in recognition of a highly exceptional accomplishment. Looking for some innovative ideas here.

Award Category Descriptions
Teamwork (Category 1) Award - recognizes a group of staff who work together as a team to achieve success in their professional endeavors and projects. These staff act together to accomplish a department or Agency goal instead of focusing solely on personal achievement.
Individual Accomplishment (Category 2) Award - recognizes individuals who go the extra mile, performing above and beyond their expected daily duties. These individuals epitomize leadership and/or initiative.
Facilitate Change (Category 3) Award - recognizes an individual or individuals who help identify/remove unnecessary obstacles in existing workflow or procedures. While the individual/s may not necessarily add or increase value to Agency products, these changes contribute to our success by improving productivity or strengthening work quality or even saving money.
New Employee (Category 4) Award - recognizes a new staff member whose performance exceeds his or her supervisor/manager's expectations during the first year of employment.
Customer Service (Category 5) Award - recognizes individuals who offer outstanding customer service internally to Agency colleagues or externally to Agency partners or clientele. Nominees take initiative to solve or resolve problems that, in turn, improves the quality of service offered to our customers.
