Manpower Planning?

The other "wave my wand" task of the day is to put together a manpower planning report. More than just succession planning, but what? Any fabulous resources out there?

HELP!

  • A 'Manpower Planning Report' is an anachronism often held over from the 50s, 60s, and early 70s. It was, and I suppose still is, a narrative and numbers analysis/presentation of the staffing levels you perceive will be required in the coming period of time and why, along with the numbers that will be required to meet your needs, by month, by quarter, showing accessions and declines. It includes economic assumptions, growth indicators, seasonal assumptions and other projections in narrative form and is accompanied by your illustration of how you will meet those challenges with manpower, or what is politically correctly called employees or workforce.

A simpler way to perceive it, I guess, is; What do I know about this business and what do I think will occur in the next 12 months and how many people will I need in what positions in which departments to meet those needs and who can I get to buy this concept in the first place.

Note: The preceeding is my personal opinion and has no value beyond that. Although it may be 'sorta offensive' or 'indeed offensive' to someone out there, it is offered without regard to that possibility. Should you find yourself alarmed by my post, you may privately mail me to protest or you may alert the principal's office. x:-)
