Work Place Violence

I am looking for advice. The company I work for does not have a specific policy addressing Work Place Violence. Senior management does not believe we need a separate policy; possibly just modify our emergency response guideline to fit, if needed. This is a sensitive subject with me as I have dealt with violent and potentially violent employees/situations on several occasions at previous jobs. Am I being overly sensitive to this subject? What type of policies do your companies have in place?

Of course you're right. You need a policy, and it should prohibit actions that can lead to violence, like threats. There's a good policy in the Subscribers Area of this website if you subscribe to Idaho Employment Law Letter.
