Cell Phone Policy

We are noticing an increase in the use of cell phones in our manufacturing plant. Because of our environment, I am concerned for the safety of everyone plus the confidentiality of our product (cell phones equiped with picture taking abilities). Does anyone have a cell phone policy that they would be willing to share with me?

    We had the same problem and formulated the following brief policy for our handbook.

    "Unless authorized for business purposes, Personal Cell Phone use is prohibited in the plant or office area. Emergency procedures are in place for incoming calls as well as availability of phones for outgoing calls during break times. Should anyone have a short-term medical concern either personally or for an immediate family member, consideration for allowing use will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and authorization may only be given by the General Manager."
