CA timekeeping requirements

Does California have a timekeeping requirement to track non-exempt employees break times on their timesheet records? I am aware of a daily overtime requirement, but I would appreciate any other information concerning timekeeping in California.

Break (rest)periods, no meal periods yes. However if the operations cease during the meal period then it isn't required to record it.

Thanks for the quick response.

So if the employee works 8-12 and 1-5 s/he is only required to show on the timesheet, the 4 hours in the morning and the 4 hours in the afternoon (whether they took a 10 minute break or not)?

Break(rest)periods are paid by the employer. So what you indicated would be shown on the timesheet would be fine.
