Anyone know if AZ has a law that says if an part time employee works XX hours per week for XX weeks, the employee must be afforded the same benefits as a full time employee? I heard that if someone worked 34 hours per week for 13 weeks they were entitled to same benefits as a full time employee? Is this true?

I don't know about AZ specifically, but generally an employer decides what is full time and what isn't. There is not a federal law that mandates full time. What I suggest is you look at your benefit plan docs. They should give you guidance on what constitutes eligiblity.

Maybe the 34/wk average over 13 weeks is the guideline your company uses to determine whether or not an employee meets the average hours?

Also, maybe you are talking about when you can put a temp agency employee on your payroll without paying any "cash out" fee. Normally 520 hours or 13 weeks???
