California Overtime

We have employees who live in California, and work in California, but sometimes travel to other states to work for 3-4 weeks up to 3 or 4 months. Does anyone know if we have to follow the California overtime law (i.e., if an employee works over 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week they must be paid time and a half), or can we follow the state law in which they are performing the work and just pay O.T. for over 40 hours in a week? Help.
