Salaried Exempt or Non Exempt? Salaried does not mean not eligible for overtime. Any Non Exempt employeed salaried or hourly must be paid for hours worked over 40 in a work week.
There are employers who pay exempt employees overtime, however, the payment is generally tied to some sort of project or deadline. The primary reason for the payment is that if they do not receive something extra their employees make more money than they do. The payment is not treated the same way as non-exempt, at time and a half, but sometimes straight time, a bonus or some other method. Overtime rules are for non-exempt employees and you can do what you want with exempt - just be careful so that you do not appear to be treating them just like non-exempt.
