Is it true that exempt employees are paid for 40 hours if they work only 8 hours in a pay period without using vacation or comp time? Does anyone know what the law is on this? Thanks
Unless it is the first or last week of work an exempt employee who works any part of the week is paid for the whole week. If you have a bona fide leave time bank ie sick, vacation, etc. and the person has used their allotment, you are not required to pay them. If they lose time because of FLMA you are not required to pay them. Why did the person work only 8 hours??
LAST EDITED ON 02-20-03 AT 01:18PM (CST)[p]If an exempt employee is absent due to personal reasons (as compared to absnt for a full day due to sickness or disability), you may dock that day from the salary for the week. There does not have to be a paid time off or paid vacation or paid personal time bank, as there does for full days' absences due to sickness or disability, in order to dock a full day's absence.
