HELP! TIPS PLUS MINIMUM WAGE IN GEORGIA

Need help please - our company is considering hiring what would amount to "waitresses" at one location and I have no experience in a "tips + wages" situation, specific to Georgia. My rep at the DOL said $2.13 was minimum wage for that, "she believed" ?? thanks for any specifics.

  • $2.13 is the minium that the employer must pay tipped employees in hard cash. BUT, the employees still must earn the minimum wage (the $2.13 plus the tips must meet or exceed the regular minimum wage). As the employer, it is your responsibility to keep records of and account for the tips to ensure that the employee has meet atleast minimum wage.

    Good Luck!
